Public Statement on a Recent News Conference
Targeting the Buddhist Community in PEI
We are deeply disheartened by a recent news conference, where fabricated allegations were used to target the Buddhist community in PEI. As a charitable and faith-based group that has served PEI for more than a decade, such persistent and malicious attacks against the Buddhists are extremely concerning.
GEBIS has always sought to act in accordance with the law. We welcome any legitimate review by the appropriate authorities, including IRAC (Island Regulatory & Appeals Commission) and the RCMP. We reserve the right to take lawful steps to protect our integrity and those who have devoted their lives to this mission.
GEBIS remains committed to openness, dialogue and service to the community. We pray for the healing of divisions, the restoration of trust, and inner peace for all.
對於近期的一場新聞發布會中,
GEBIS 遵守法律,我們歡迎相關主管機關依法對本團體進行審視;同時,
GEBIS 將一如既往,繼續以開放、真誠的態度服務人群。

Statement on CBC's "Trouble on the Island"
We are deeply disheartened that CBC’s article “Trouble on the Island” is a profound misrepresentation of our community. The report is misleading and biased.
We state unequivocally: GEBIS and Teacher Zhen-Ru are not funded by, affiliated with, or directed by any political parties, including the Chinese Communist Party. We are an independent Buddhist organization dedicated to spiritual education, environmental stewardship, and compassionate service. Our presence in Canada is rooted in decades of sincere effort to study, teach, and live according to Buddhist principles, not by political influence.
We operate in compliance with Canadian laws. Our activities, including land acquisition, have been carried out with sincere intent, in good faith, and in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
It is disappointing that a respected national media outlet lends credibility to unnamed sources and to speculative framing. We urge CBC and other media outlets to approach complex cultural and religious stories with care and sensitivity, especially in a multicultural society that values understanding over fear. We remain open to constructive dialogue, recognizing that genuine understanding flourishes through honest and inclusive engagement.
