A field of sunflowers near the monastery welcomed many excited Islanders who came to visit and take photos. Flowers were given as gifts to local charities and businesses as a “happiness charger” that they could give to anyone who wanted them.
Originally, these sunflowers were grown for the monastery, but then we heard that the Islanders like the sunflowers. We thought it was a great idea to share them with people and reach out to the community.
“It symbolizes there is always hope. They just make people so happy,” says Venerable Dan.
